K1 Open Broxbourne SC

A hardy group of K1 sailors braved the floods and monsoon weather to gather at Broxbourne Sailing Club on 7th July for a weekend open and tuning session. And while potential travel problems prevented some sailors from attending the fleet was pleased to welcome Tom Murphy from the National Yacht Club in Ireland who had just collected his new K1 from Vandercraft.

The day started with the lake mirror-like calm and slowly developed into a gentle breeze by the time we were ready for what we hoped would be three competitive races. Jeff Vander-borght from Lyme Regis SC was going to be the man to beat according to his previous results in K1 open meetings but we all had expectations of some tight races. K1 End of Season Open at Queen Mary SC

The K1s concluded a successful events calendar for the year with some great racing at their End of Season open at Queen Mary Sailing Club this weekend.

The event started with tuning session on Saturday prior to racing Sunday and it was good to see 13 K1 owners over the weekend with some choosing only to catch up on the rigging and tuning advice in preparation for next season.

K1's visit Lake Windermere for inaugural K1 Open at South Windermere SC, report by Mike Deane, SWSC

The first ever K1 open event on Lake Windermere was held last weekend (Saturday 11th of June). Hosted by South Windermere Sailing Club, who’s base is within the National Trust’s beautiful Fell Foot Park, the location stunned the newcomers to the Lakes, many of whom had taken a long weekend to explore the National Park, as well as take part in the second K1 open meeting of 2011, a class which is becoming increasingly competitive.

K1 Oxford Open Report & Results

The second K1 Oxford Cup open was held on Saturday 16th April at Oxford SC preceded on Friday by a K1 rigging and tuning session run by Jeff from Vandercraft.

Despite the forecast for very light winds a total of 16 owners made the trip to Oxford with 13 keen enough to race in what little wind there was on Saturday.
